Safe propane cylinder handling

Following a few simple safety practices can help prevent accidents and keep your operation running smoothly.

  • Never smoke while handling propane cylinders.
  • Wear protective gloves and eye protection during cylinder changes.
  • Close all cylinder valves when equipment is not in use.
  • Store cylinders in approved racks away from heat and ignition sources.
  • If you suspect a leak, shut off the valve, move the cylinder outdoors and contact your propane supplier.
  • Read and follow all warning labels before use.
  • Handle cylinders carefully, as contact with liquid propane can cause severe cold burns.
